I investigate and develop reference materials for Laser Ablation ICP-MS. The special emphasis of my study is to undestand the effects of chemical abrasion on titanites, with special focus on the Khan reference material. Titanite is key mineral for geochronology and can be used to constrain timing of metamorphic processes, crystallisation of intermediate and mafic rocks and some hydrothermal processes.

We have sampled large quantities of titanites from the Khan pegmatite locality. This material is now currently being treated under high temperatures and will be exposed to heavy HF etching prior to LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating.
