Marco Silva

I specialize in the Laser Ablation ICP-MS technique, with special emphasis in isotopes and trace element geochemistry applied to metamorphic, igneous and hydrothermal systems.

My work is focussed on improving data acquisition via LA-ICP-MS, from sample preparation to enhancements to ICP-MS data collection

Recent efforts have been directed at developing heavy mineral separation through panning, heavy liquids and chemical abrasion. I am also involved in developing reference materials for Laser Ablation ICP-MS analyses either for U-Pb isotopes (xenotime, apatite, zircon and monazites) or B (tourmalines) and Trace elements such as metallic minerals.
