My research interests include the use of isotopic and geochemical methods applied to magmatic and hydrothermal systems. My primary research focus is to study the Archean evolution of the São Francisco craton in SE Brazil. In the southern tip of the craton, the Archean basement encompasses complexes of gneisses and granitoids, surrounded by greenstone belts and Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary successions. Previous studies have suggested that the generation of large volumes of post-collisional high-K calc-alkaline magmas into the TTG crust from 2760 to 2680 Ma marks the beginning of important geodynamic changes in the southern São Francisco craton. In this project, I seek to investigate the mechanisms that drove crustal differentiation and stabilization in the southern São Francisco craton. For this purpose, I combine detailed field and petrographic observations, whole-rock major and trace elements analyses, coupled U-Pb, Lu-Hf, and O isotope analyses in zircon, and B isotopes in tourmaline to place new constraints on the Archean magmatic-hydrothermal evolution of the region.
